You have generously supported Reach the Children in the past but there is now an *urgent* need for funds to help feed Covid-19 vulnerable families in rural Uganda and Kenya. These households include grandmothers caring for their grandchildren, HIV positive mothers, disabled family members, women and child headed households as well as those at risk of gender based violence under lock down restrictions. RTC UK is already helping to supply essential items of food to 200 impoverished households, selected in consultation with local community leaders in Uganda, to ensure children are nourished and avoid malnutrition and starvation. RTC UK has co-funded this programme throughout June and July, with funds remaining for another month. With the pandemic taking firm hold in sub Saharan Africa, these vulnerable families will need more support beyond August, as will many more families as lockdown continues to restrict movement in rural areas. Any assistance you can give will enable us to carry on providing food to more vulnerable families until the worst is over.
