She needed a new roof but instead got a new home

Mama Cephas is a member of Grandma Gardens projects in Kenya and featured in a Reach the Children UK video on its web site ( www.reachthechildren.org.uk ). During the interview she was asked if RTC UK could help her with anything. Mama Cephas said her rusty old tin roof was leaking and spoiling her maize harvest as well as soaking her grandchildren’s sleeping area. RTC UK raised the funds to repair her roof but when our local team, RTC Kenya, began work on the house they realised the whole building was rotten and was in danger of falling down. The local villagers got together and donated timber and labour for the walls and RTC Kenya completed the roof as originally planned. As a result Mama Cephas now has a new home with a brand new roof. What a great example of how RTC UK works together with a community to make a difference in a family’s life.
