There are signs outside the YOPDIDA vocational training centre warning children not to accept any inducements such as food, school fees, treats etc from older men wanting sex for favours. Reach the Children is committed to safe guarding children and adults at risk of abuse in any form. You can find our Safe Guarding Policy on our website, www.reachthechildren.org.uk, under About Us.
RTC’s Stay Alive programme has, for almost twenty years, taught teachers and children about the risks of engaging in early sexual activity, empowering girls and young women to say no to unwanted attention. Boys are taught that NO MEANS NO and that coercion, inducement and rape are unacceptable. The dangers of sexual disease and unwanted pregnancy are clearly taught through the Stay Alive programme, which has been a very successful HIV AIDS intervention programme.
