PUTTING IT UP THERE

The 10,000 litre storage tank is lifted on to the raised platform at Reach the Children’s Luwero Centre near Kampala Uganda. This phase of the drilling of a borehole 57 metres deep in to the ground provides a good source of water that will be pumped into the raised storage tank. The elevated tank will provide a head of pressure that can provide irrigation water to the Grandma Gardens project and offers planned cultivation on all 14 acres of the Centre enabling routine husbandry of crops without relying on the rains to irrigate the crops. The certainty of a water supply enables management of arable land in a more productive way. The development of primary infrastructure ie water and electricity on site provides the support for developing enterprise initiatives on a self-sustaining basis, providing employment as well as surplus to reinvest in charitable projects in the community.
