Going to the “loo” has a whole new meaning at a Primary School in Ematibira, Western Kenya now that the boys and girls have brand new separate toilet blocks to use, thanks to generous donors Trust UK working with Reach the Children UK. The project was implemented by Reach the Children Kenya. The installation of toilets will improve the health status and wellbeing of the children in this rural community school. Along with the toilet blocks, hand washing stations have been installed with the water harvested from the toilet roof; washing hands after using the toilet will help reduce the spread of germs, infections and diseases.
There are many rural state schools with inadequate toilet facilities. Reach the Children has funded the construction of school latrines working with its local associates, improving the lives of impoverished children in the rural environment. Help us provide these basic facilities by donating today and we will make going to the loo an event to celebrate.
The photographs show the boys latrine – before and after, the plaque celebrating the collaboration on the project, and the official handover of the latrines to the school. What a difference!
