Project Description
Have you ever thought of imagination as a skill of privilege? We’re driven to open-up opportunities for school children in rural Africa so they can tap into their imagination and have the space to dream.
Growing up in rural Africa creates a unique set of childhood experiences that children share in the stories they write about their lives. We can learn so much from what our children tell us, and what they see in the world around them.
We decided to take on the challenge of collecting stories from schools across East Africa in our writing competition. ‘I Told My Story’ allows us to reach more schools, providing writing equipment and mosquito nets to all the children, as well as prizes for the winners!
We couldn’t do any of this without the help of our project partners Red Planet Pictures, our volunteers, and you, our generous supporters. We’ll be sharing more about which schools have taken part this year, and who the winners are who had the best stories to share.
